THE CRONES
Colorado Bluegrass Trio
The Crones bring Colorado bluegrass to life with tight vocal harmonies, high-energy fiddle tunes, and an Americana twist that gets people moving. The name is a reclamation — proudly owning the power and wisdom that comes with being older women. This Boulder-based trio — Tina Dozauer (vocals, guitar), Laima Haley (vocals, fiddle), and Roz Weller (upright bass) — draws on roots in classical training, Eastern European folk, and Nashville honky-tonks to deliver a sound that's traditional, contemporary, and completely their own. Whether you're a lifelong bluegrass fan or hearing it for the first time, The Crones will have you foot-stomping by the first song.

More About Us
Check out our EPK for more venue resourcesTina Dozauer (guitar, vocals)
Tina grew up on a farm in southern Iowa, where she cultivated a love of animals, gardening, and music. She studied classical voice at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music (Rhiannon Giddens’s alma mater!) and CU Boulder and later discovered bluegrass at a music camp she attended with her son. She has been teaching music in the Boulder Valley Schools for the past 28 years. Tina keeps a collection of odd rescue liquors that friends regretted buying, such as vanilla vodka and butterscotch schnapps.Laima Haley (fiddle, vocals)
Laima is a versatile fiddler and singer who loves many different genres of music. Originally starting as a Suzuki violin tot chasing NYSMA medals, over the years she discovered her deepest passions were for Eastern European music and modal Bluegrass. She also performs with groups such as Planina, Songs of Eastern Europe, the Rusty Gears and the Spurs of the Moment. Laima is a big fan of tasty NA brews.Roz Weller (upright bass)
Roz was introduced to bluegrass at Penn State, where she learned upright bass to jam at bluegrass festivals in the area. At graduate school in Nashville, she lived close to the Station Inn, where she was a regular. In Colorado, Roz played with Orchard Creek Band for several years before joining The Crones. She also plays with Smorgasgrass and runs a couple of open bluegrass jams. Roz stockpiles holiday IPAs.

LET'S GET IN TOUCH
The Crones typically perform two 45-minute sets with a short break, and are happy to tailor set length to your event. The trio is fully acoustic and well-suited to intimate indoor venues, outdoor markets and festival stages alike. They can provide their own amplification for smaller spaces — just ask. For larger venues with a house sound system, they require 2 vocal mic channels and 3 instrument channels. The Crones are easy to work with, show up ready to play, and leave the room smiling.
